Lazy, but Smart

So my little Fussbucket has been learning all sorts of new tricks lately. If I sit her next to me, then she grabs my shoulder and stands up! A couple of weeks ago we went to visit the twins - they are 2 months older - and they were scooting and crawling so she studied them. Now she is scooting and she will be crawling soon. She is getting into position. But I still think she will walk very soon after crawling, if she bothers to crawl at all. She is already holding onto things to stand and has taken a few steps while holding on.

Anyway, the point of this post is to tell what happened on Sunday. We went to my brother's in-law's house for their Easter brunch and Fussbucket was the center of attention. Which is the way she likes it. So she was sitting on the floor on a blanket and scooting around and playing with her toys and she had a bunch of measuring spoons. She accidentally let go while she was flinging them around and they landed just out of her reach. We assumed she would just scoot to them. Nope. She tried to reach and then looked down and assessed the problem. Then she grabbed hold of the blanket and pulled until they were next to her! Smart Girl! Lazy, but smart! hehe

One more week

I only have one more week of this horrible Quantitative Methods class. Unfortunately that means that I'm in Term Paper and Final Exam territory. And I'm avoiding them both at the moment. Can you tell?

I keep putting it off. Last night my wonderful Hubby helped me avoid it by taking me to see Twilight. It was just as Emo as the book. Hubby says I can't use that word because it wasn't a word until about 2 years ago. I reminded him that he must be getting old. hehe.

Anyway. I suppose since I'm up at 8am on a Saturday, I really should work on the Term paper that is due tomorrow. Wish me luck!

From shooting stars to stray eyelashes, there are a lot of ways to make a wish. What's your preferred method for asking favors from the universe?

My husband said to me one night "It's 11:11, make a wish!". That was years ago. Now everytime I see 11:11 on the clock I make a wish! Actually, I make tons of wishes which I think is against the rules, but it works for me!

Ugh. I got a C on my Midterm. That brings my grade in the class down to a B. I'm a perfectionist. I want an A!!! I guess I'll be doing that 50 points of extra credit.

Last night when we got home from work Hubby and the Fussbucket were having a "conversation" (she is making more complex sounds and it sounds like she is talking) anyway... at one point Hubby said "what would you like for dinner?" and she said something that we both swear sounded like "boobs!" We busted out laughing!

THEN Hubby said that boobs were good for other things, but she didn't seem to believe him, so he said "ok, so we agree to disagree, right?" and she said "uh uh!" very emphatically!

So then he asked her again what she wanted for dinner, and she said "boobs!" again! We were busting! I think I broke. I was laughing so hard that tears were coming out!

How come you never have a video camera when you need one?!!

Side note: She will be 3 months old tomorrow so she really doesn't know any words yet. And I am NOT counting "boobs" as her first word!!

You are Pete!

You are exceptional at what you do, which often means helping others work through difficult situations in non-traditional ways. And despite your impressive organizational skills and high standards, you still manage to make life fun for those around you... unless, of course, you are moping over things in the past. Sometimes you're reluctant to share your feelings, which can make you seem like an enigma, but it also makes you much more fascinating when you finally open up.

BIG DEER!

My brother lives in the boonies. Today on his way to work, he apparently hit a deer. A BIG deer. He got very lucky. Apparently he hit it and it flew up and hit his windshield and continued over his car. He was lucky that it didn't go thru the windshield! He is fine, but his car is a mess. He's getting it towed.

I'm not sure what happened to the deer because I got all the info from my Mom. But from what I heard, I have a feeling it got up and ran off. I'll post more info when I get it.

Things are starting to get more normal again. Well, as normal as it can get with a 4 week old around. Today we went to the mall with my Mom and Dad and had lunch at Cheesecake Factory.. yum! Then we went to Costco and Target. It's been 6 weeks since I've been shopping!

Tonight Hubby's cousin is coming over to meet the little one. She will be our babysitter when I go back to work. We are ordering pizza and hanging out.

Tomorrow my college roommate is visiting. It's been a while since I've seen her. We used to try to see each other every other month, but it is getting farther and farther apart. It will be good to see her again.

Tomorrow night we are all going to my brother's house for a belated birthday dinner (for my birthday!). My brother was in Dallas on my birthday doing a convention for work. This will be the first time the little one will meet my brother's big dogs and his wife's horses. She will even get to see her pony! I can't believe she is barely 4 weeks old and has a pony! So spoiled! hehe.

I've signed up for my next MBA class. I have to attempt Quantitative Methods again. I dropped it after the first week last time. I'm not looking forward to taking it. Luckily it doesn't start until October.

Less than 2 weeks until I go back to work. I'm looking forward to it. As much as I love my little girl, I need to stimulate my brain!

Still here

I'm still here. I've just been writing a lot of private entries lately. Just documenting the growth of my little one and I didn't feel the need to share all the details. She is doing great by the way. She is having a growth spurt which means I'm a milk cow right now as she is eating every hour and a half!

I always look forward to when Hubby comes home and we have family time. Dinner and either TV or a movie. My little Miss Fussbucket is actually a really good baby and doesn't fuss much - I don't know why I call her Miss Fussbucket, but it is sticking for now. She seems to like family time, but she always wants to eat. Luckily I make some bottles so her Daddy can feed her too.

As for the rest of my life, I'm checking up on work everyday. They miss me which is nice. I'm reading a really good book - TRIBUTE by Nora Roberts and I'm watching a lot of TV. Kind of boring actually. Luckily I have lots of visitors to keep me busy during the week too. And I've lost all my pregnancy weight already! I'm in my old jeans - actually I've been in my jeans for over a week now, which is nice! Now my goal is to keep losing weight. We'll see how that goes. Life will get more hectic in a few weeks.

I'm looking forward to going back to work. I need to exercise my brain. I should be returning August 28th. But I know I will miss my little Miss Fussbucket.

Lovely meme borrowed from [info]sunrising and [info]venchue

The Challenge:
- Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.
- See if anybody else responds with "I've done that."
- Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

1. Broken my foot stepping off a curb.
2. Had a marriage that lasted only 9 months.
3. Watched the whole Alien movie series while pregnant.

expensive weekend

It turned out to be an expensive weekend. Some of it was fun and some wasn't. I got my hair done, which was fun. Hubby bought a new bookcase for our living room and it looks perfect, which is fun.

Not so fun - at 11pm Saturday night, Hubby heard dripping in the laundry room. He went to check it out. Our pressure valve was leaking. So Hubby decided to tighten it. Bad idea! It went from a drip to a spray! He ended up having to turn off the water. He had to call an emergency plumber (spendy!) to come out to fix it. But they were all booked. He finally got one at the third company he called, but they couldn't get there until Sunday afternoon.

So we had no water from 11pm Saturday night, until 12pm Sunday afternoon. "That doesn't sound long" you might think. This means that we couldn't flush the toilet or take a shower or wash our hands. We felt gross! And I'm pregnant and I had to pee every 2 hours. Yuck!

Good news is they fixed it. Bad news is that since it was an emergency call, we got charged double! Almost $500 down the drain - literally.

Today would have been my Questor-Bubby's 17th birthday. I hadn't really been paying attention, but someone came in my office and asked about the picture on my desktop. When I told them it was my kitty who passed away, they asked how old he was. I looked at my calendar and realized that today would've been his birthday.

Then a few minutes ago I got a phone call from the vet prescription service telling me it was time to renew my Bubby's prescription. Odd that they would call today.

I guess my Bubby was reminding me that today is his birthday! Happy Birthday, Questor-Bubby! I hope we meet again soon!

Never alone

I never feel alone anymore. When I get bored, I just watch my belly move! I was sitting in my craft room on Saturday doing my homework and feeling a bit lonely because Hubby had to work again when all of a sudden the right side of my tummy started lifting on its own! I burst out laughing and found myself talking to my unborn daughter the rest of the afternoon. It is so cool to see her move. Of course, I haven't been able to coax her to move when anyone else is around to see it. Stubborn child.
